Henry and Becky Shultz of Centralia, Missouri own Prairie Lane Farm. When the farm started, we raised registered Corriedales and Suffolks. After several years, we decided to disperse the Suffolks and began our Dorset flock. Our daughters, Sarah and Rachel, grew up showing sheep at junior shows across the country. They enjoyed showing and received many benefits from it, which is why we cater to 4-H and FFA members.
We are currently using a ram from Reister Farms. Our ewe bloodlines go back to Monson, Merlau, Ruppert and Crawford rams as well as rams of our own.
Over the years, the Corriedale flock produced four champions at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, two Reserve Champion Rams in 1989 and 1997 and two Champion Ewes in 1994 and 1997.
Our 50 Dorset ewes spring and fall lamb. The ewe bloodlines go back to several Riverwood rams, a Gilmore-Davison ram and an Oklahoma State ram. We are currently using a Penn State ram, and McCarthy ram, as well as Prairie Lane 2433 and Deuce, both sons of the Oklahoma State ram. The Oklahoma State ram sired the high selling Dorset Spring Ewe Lamb at the 2005 Midwest Sale, sold to Superior Farms.
We will be offering Corriedale and Dorset lambs for sale this spring at the farm and at several sales. Photos will be loaded as we get them taken.
